"Pursuit Performance is founded on one core principle: the relentless pursuit of excellence. Striving for excellence, and not perfection, propels us on a journey of constant improvement and facilitates a mindset of never settling.
At Pursuit we take a holistic approach to programming and training protocol. We adhere strongly to the belief that the key to building strength and mental toughness is not just by lifting weight, but by also focusing on nutrition, hydration and recovery so an athlete can pursue their optimal level of performance. Technique is stressed in all aspects of sport-specific programming which is comprised of a wide variety of body-weight training, Olympic lifts, functional movement, plyometrics, and regeneration.
Coach Novak was born in Nebraska, but has spent the majority of his life in the Pacific Northwest both in Oregon and Washington. When Cody was playing football for Battle Ground High School he fell in love with the weight room. He realized early on that he not only had a passion for strength and conditioning, but more importantly a desire to help others achieve their personal goals.
Coach Novak has been a performance coach in the strength and conditioning industry for 14 years, and is certified by the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a CSCS. While earning his B.S. in Exercise Science and Physiology from Western Washington University, he interned as a strength coach for both Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Football and Women’s rowing. He also interned at Bellingham Athletic Club working closely under their Director of Sports Performance, Mike Locke, who specialized in speed and agility for collegiate athletes. After graduation, the next 10 years of Coach Novak’s career was spent coaching a wide variety of athletes at Pro Sports Club, ranging from competitive high school and collegiate athletes (including the 2011-2012 Lady Wolves State team) to individuals just looking to establish a healthy lifestyle."
